The majority of this collection relates to Buchele's work with agricultural safety. Of particular interest are the films, which relate to agricultural subjects; records relating to his professional activities; written and published presentations; records on Buchele's patents as well as other patent information used in his research; and classroom materials connected with his teaching.

Wesley F. Buchele, a native of Kansas, received his B.S. (1943) in Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University; his M.S. (1951) in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Arkansas; and his Ph. D (1954) in Agricultural Engineering and Soil Physics from Iowa State University. Buchele served in the U.S. Army (1943-1946) and was also employed as an engineer by John Deere Waterloo Works (1946-1948) and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas (1948-1951)....

On March 22, 1948, Iowa State College (University) sponsored a 90th anniversary celebration in honor of the founding of the college, which occurred on the same date in 1858 when the charter act establishing a state agricultural college became law.
